Prince Siegfried has to choose a bride from all the girls present at his birthday party, but all he wants is to marry for love. To clear his mind, he goes hunting in the forest, where he sees a group of swans. The moment he wants to shoot, the swan turns into a beautiful woman dressed in a white dress made of swan feathers. She tells him that her name is Princess Odette and, like the other swans, she has been enchanted by the wizard Von Rothbart. Siegfried falls in love with Odette and promises to marry her. That’s the only way to break von Rothbart’s spell. “Come to the ball in the palace tomorrow, and I will choose you as my bride. The other women don’t interest me. I only want you! When we get married, the spell is broken and we can be happy together.” Siegfried swears never to break this promise. What’s next? Spoiler: The spell was broken, but they didn’t live happily ever after….

Prins Siegfried moet een bruid kiezen uit alle meisjes die aanwezig zijn op zijn verjaardagsfeestje, maar het enige wat hij wil is trouwen uit liefde. Om zijn hoofd leeg te maken gaat hij jagen in het bos, waar hij een groep zwanen ziet. Op het moment dat hij wil schieten, verandert de zwaan in een mooie vrouw gekleed in een witte jurk gemaakt van zwanenveren. Ze vertelt hem dat haar naam prinses Odette is en net als de andere zwanen is ze betoverd door de tovenaar Von Rothbart. Siegfried wordt verliefd op Odette en belooft met haar te trouwen. Dat is de enige manier om de betovering van Von Rothbart te verbreken. “Kom morgen naar het bal in het paleis, dan kies ik jou als mijn bruid. De andere vrouwen interesseren me niet. Ik wil alleen jou! Als we gaan trouwen, is de betovering verbroken en kunnen we samen gelukkig zijn.” Siegfried zweert deze belofte nooit te breken. Wat nu? Spoiler: De betovering was verbroken, maar ze leefden niet lang en gelukkig….
