Little birdbaths high in the sky. A sky without limits.
As free as a bird, high and dry, enjoying the tranquility of nature and the blossoms and falling dewdrops. No better life than a good one.
Domein Oogenlust is located in Eersel in the south of the Netherlands. The botanists there are really artists. They make the most beautiful compositions for the upper few, precious pieces to add luster to spaces. I am inspired by them and give it my own twist. For example, I see a kind of bird nests in the budding branches.
To express the difference in materiality, I alternate refined paint strokes with rougher strokes For example, I use the chalk paint for the thin air effect and more pasty wax crayon for the bark. With cotton swabs I apply the drops of dew and the flower particles of swirling blossom. I am always looking for ways to convey the feeling. It doesn’t have to look ‘real’. Van Gogh, Hockney, they’re on my shoulder watching.
