Nature is an artist’s teacher. In response, they pay tribute to the beauty of the landscape. The Dutch polder landscape, strictly speaking not nature, is also picturesque. My backyard – the Strabrechtse heide with its flock of sheep and a single grazing buffalo – is an oasis of peace. Especially early in the morning, when the sun shines through the leaves and casts its light on the water of the fens. There they walk chattering: “Isn’t it wonderful, sheep?” “Certainly, I think so too. So wonderful that it still possible.” The fact that man is inextricably linked to nature is made clear by the increasingly visible climate change. Humanity has what it takes to create and sustain as well as destroy. One day nature may take over our artificial world again. We live in an important time, in which we determine the direction of the future. It is now up to us to make the choice. 70 cm h x 70 cm b x 2 cm d, oilpaint, on canvas, signed. (To be framed)
