Studio works Mieke

Welkom. Graag laat ik u een aantal van mijn werken zien. U vindt ze naar ordening van het materiaal in het uitklapveld bij Studio Works Mieke in de menubalk hierboven.

Sculpturen maak ik meestal in de ruimten van de academie, waar ik de beschikking heb over een metaalruimte, een mouleerruimte (voor het maken van mallen en het werken met gips en kunststoffen) en een grote werkruimte.

Bovendien is het verrijkend om daar te werken met andere kunstenaars. We helpen elkaar en brengen elkaar op een idee.

Schilderijen en tekeningen maak ik vooral thuis. Nu de kinderen de deur uit zijn, heb ik hun respectievelijke slaapkamers omgedoopt tot atelier. Prima, alleen werken van groot formaat kan ik er niet maken, dus een atelier op de begane grond met veel licht en een grote doorgang blijft vooralsnog een droom.

Over mij

Ik werk en woon in Heeze. Mijn opleiding op het beeldende vlak heb ik gevolgd aan de Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Tilburg, aan de lerarenopleiding aldaar. Mijn specialisatie was 3D-werk. Daarnaast heb ik de Hogere Graad Beeldhouwen gevolgd aan de Kunstacademie in Neerpelt, Belgie. In deze discipline heb ik me gedurende twee jaren verder gespecialiseerd. Ook neem ik deel aan het Projectatelier voor afgestudeerden.

BIO

Mieke van Os is a multidisciplinary artist with a focus on mixed media constructions. She is increasingly working with things she finds in her environment, also from a sustainability point of view. Remnants of a renovation, residual products of casting materials, pieces of stone or wood, strips of textile. It often results in a material treatment or solution that is not immediately obvious and thus gives individuality to her work.

She is looking for an unconventional, but traditional shape with a twist. Contemporary traditional. She looks for composition in her works, the separation of surface and color, as a painter and also as a sculpturist. A way of working to study the form more carefully. She visually explores the new topography and rediscovers familiar materials. In her work she wants to express an atmosphere, a feeling.

Her sources of inspiration are very variable and versatile. Whether a work was made 500 years ago or now, she borrows elements from it to do something with it. Ideas also come from the production itself. The work often has a kind of rules and chaos at the same time. At first glance, her work is very diverse. On closer inspection, there is definitely a connecting line. An expression of how her mind reacts to things.

Van Os has followed two professional art courses: one to become an art teacher and the other to work autonomously as an artist. In the Netherlands (Bachelor Fine Arts and Design in Education, EQF6, 2014) and in Belgium (Sculpture, EQF5, 2021), the specialization degree Sculpture and she is now also connected to the Project Atelier in mix media. A starting number of works are exhibited in Belgium and online (during the COVID-period).

Her motto is: “The horizon is infinite, it only knows a limit in ones head. Her goals are to further develop and explore her techniques and to experiment with (sustainable) materials, colors, shapes and sizes (!), in a combination of sculpture, painting, ceramics and textiles; she also wants to focus more on research in working with plant remains and other biomaterials.

Mieke lives in Heeze in the South of The Netherlands and was born in Uden (1960).
